Talk over-moderated
Here's another example:

Great story, correct forum, lots of thumbs up. Then one tongue-in-cheek reply and RMurphy steps in and locks the thread. It's called humor.

I gotta stop.......
Whatever resolution has to come off this needs to happen with both groups (moderators and members and guests) together. We need to stop seeing each other as adversaries.
I realize manga spawn deleted his latter post asking for proof of threads that were locked, but it was still quoted and responded to.
All the members and anyone else that is not a Mod, needs to realize that
A) Mods are volunteers
B) Mods have feelings too. Constantly calling them out causes them stress. So lets not do that.
C) Perhaps the content of some posts is so inane that seeing such stuff day over day makes then a little jaded and prone to caustic remarks. This is human nature and all of us will react that way sooner or later.
Mods, please realize:
A) There would be no smoke without a fire
B) Quite a few respondents have claimed to see heavy-handed behaviour.
C) S2000 Talk is probably a cesspool, but perhaps past efforts of under-moderation may be a better way to handle things. Think iron fist in a velvet glove like s1997 in Vintage, CKit in R&C and SakiGT with Car Talk.
D) Of all the people that frequent S2000 Talk and also those posting here, you need to be voices of reason and take the higher ground. I once published an article for the Home Page that inadvertently flamed a member on here. I did not author that article, but published it. I apologized and took full responsibility, but the damage was done. The member left and that guilt still weighs on me. I was criticized by several mods and members and that was valid. No shame in owning up and moving on.
I know I've said a lot on here, with nary a response. My opinion may not amount to much but as a member and volunteer on S2KI, I feel responsibility to say what I've just said.
TL: DR - In the words of Rodney King "Can we all get along?" and possibly take a kinder approach to this discussion.

*Now that I'm off topic, this thread will be locked* Haha!

...and we're back.
Wait, we're back but in a different forum. Thread got moved but there was nothing in "S2000 Talk" to make people aware of that move?
Huh, some threads get that courtesy, this one didn't. Meh.

All the other 'moved' threads have links to them, this one just quietly lost.
Also I notice my request for any of you to provide a thread that was closed that should not have been has gone ignored. Back up your claims that by closing threads information is getting lost because of mods closing threads.

Must have missed that. Review rmurphy's recent closures, last 2-3 weeks and see if they're truly appropriate. Search is proving difficult to pull up more then a few of her last posts.
This isn't really a mistake or two. It's a trend in the most visible section of the forum. When a bunch of the threads are either locked or moved it's an indication that there are either too many sub-forums or somebody wants to play god.
We appreciate the moderators. We're just pointing out that the balance is a little out of whack in S2000 Talk.

The OP asked a legitimate question in the appropriate forum. RMurphy comes in with a sour attitude and proclaims it a waste of bandwidth and then proceeds to show off his/her moderator status and argue with forum members, many of whom pay to use the forum.
It's a forum, a place for people to ask questions, speculate, and have fun talking about the S2000. So what if a question has been asked before? So what if the thread is a few years old? The moderator should either be helpful and provide a link, or let the thread run its natural course... unless there's a significant violation of a significant forum rule.
If you're so burnt out that you can't answer with a helpful reply then don't be a moderator. If you're inclined to make sensitive situations turn into pissing matches then don't be a moderator. The S2000 Talk forum certainly doesn't need the level of moderation we've seen over the past few months. Less is more.
I have stayed out of this so that people can vent as they need and hopefully some meaningful information could come from the thread. If edits were to be made or the topic to be moved or closed, I felt it should be done by someone other than the person being most commonly referenced since everyone would naturally assume an edit or lock would be done by that person out of spite. Plus, in the last 48 hours, not to downplay the importance of the topic, but I have had some things to take care of which were a higher priority and I hadn't even been in the sub-forum since Saturday evening until this afternoon. At this point, I want to state that I appreciate some of the measured replies and reasonable commentary. Posts with serious intent to help and not just be a bashfest are always welcome and they make an impression.
I was asked to come in and help in a forum that was shorthanded and needed assistance in being moderated. I was given links to the TOS and forum guidelines. I read all of the moderators guidelines, dos and don'ts, and tried to absorb a LOT of information as quickly as I could so I could do what was asked of me. I watched what other moderators did, dove in, and proceeded to try to do what I felt was the best job I could do. There are a lot of threads which get started in S2000 Talk which really ought to be in other sub-forums better suited for those topics. I've already given examples of those types of topics in my previous post in this thread so I won't waste time repeating them. And when I say a lot, I do mean a LOT (and then there is the spam that some of you never even get to see which sometimes fills half a page). Some are from people who are new and are perhaps overwhelmed by all of the content here. Some are from people who honestly think they are in the right place. And some are from people who don't really care and just dump posts wherever their cursor lands. I think if you read the moved threads, on a huge majority you will see I took the extra time to post why a thread was being moved particularly when it is a first-time poster.
When it comes to opinions, my personal opinions are always only my own. However, I can see where people might not always recognize that because there is a moderator symbol next to my name now. I don't really think my posts have changed any from before I was asked to mod. I have good days and bad days just like anyone else. But the vast majority of the time, I do take the time to explain what I'm doing and why. I am not blindly following the rules, as some have suggested. I recognize there is a reason those rules exist, although I'm not privy to the entirety of some of those reasons. I can't just decide I personally disagree with the rules and not apply them if I feel like not applying them. That is not up to me. I can, however, make note of what I think seems odd, bring it to the attention of others who might know why they exist and ask for discussion. But I can't just stop applying the rule just because I decide I suddenly know better than the person (people) who set it forth. Whether I have posted in a thread or not, agreed with it or not, once the thread has gone into a territory where it is supposed to be moved or closed, I have done that. Not out of anger, but out of what was supposed to happen. My comments are last in the thread I close typically to state why it's being closed. It's rare I close a thread with no explanation.
I realize that some will take this as an opportunity to dissect my responses and find more fault with me somehow, even some who I have probably helped by posting detailed answers to questions they could have taken the exact same time that I did to do a google search and look up for themselves, but instead decided to let someone else do it for them. Such is the nature of some people. I am not really worried about that. I've done what I needed to do and I am okay with it. Can I do better? Sure. Can't we all? Do I -- or any other moderator -- deserve to be crucified by the village? No.
Again, I want to point out that the moderators all care -- we wouldn't be here or be doing this if we didn't -- and this thread is not being ignored or trying to be hidden by anyone. Quite the contrary, I assure you.

This site is over-moderated? NO WAY!!!
I don't post anything of real value anymore due to some of the moderators behavior with me (call me selfish). I'll be just a "Guest" after this year for this reason alone. I had a moderator (sam_spider) troll me here in the middle of a dispute that I 100% took to PM's, and I got banned for a month. The moderator I PM'd added 2 or 3 other moderators to the PM and none of them would counter with anything I said other than re-posting what they said prior when it did not pertain to what I asked/pointed out.
I exported the PM's if anyone wants to read and you'll see what I mean.
It doesn't matter if you care or have good intentions, it's what you do... Hell, it's not like only one person is complaining in this thread about the subject at hand. Maybe there needs to be a regime change to keep the balance.
