Bass -

If you are referring to me then let me tell you why I posted some of the stuff that I do - because whites2k asked. For that matter he was addressing you with that question as you are a dues paying member.

QUOTE <what are you (the due paying members) doing for the new comers to the S2000 community?>

No question that there are a great number of things that non-co's do in our region. I mentioned a few of them earlier.

I guess it remains to be seen how the community will be affected.

Personally I like the fact that for-sale posts will be for members only. Should keep the fraud down a bit.

Also - as the car gets cheaper - the ownership demographic will change and I'm not sure that is actually going to be a good change.

Liq, please know my post was not directed solely at you but all who chimed in. paS2K who I consider a friend stated how much he does, as did the others but what I see is that the cos came in like sheep and said it was a great idea whereas some members paying or not feel different. Members are what make s2ki great

NOT A BASH ON BILLMAN
Billman stated how much he does

I also agree with what Bass has said though. I have no problem limiting certain info and features to paying members. But IMO, TSBs and How-To stuff should be available to everyone.

I'm glad you expressed your opinion - I certainly don't take offense at your position.

Hmmm....As far as my s2k biz, I don't actively advertise it. Newcomers ask about service, and are directed to me by my locals. Just as someone asking about PDR bodywork, and are directed to a certain someone. It would be different if I was trolling the boards offering s2k repair. I'm not out there selling....people are coming and buying.

I do however, host lots of tech days and shell out lots of free labor. I also give incentives, with my labor rate, to become a PAID member.
I also have a gold membership, and CO my local club. I offer tons of tech advice to anyone who asks. I have managed to keep the entire Metro crew verry happy with s2ki, and showed them that a membership has it's bonuses.

So to answer, Bass, your question is a tough one. Do we have black and white rules, or take members/guests on a case by case basis?

Example...Hardtopguy has extended his helping hand farther than anyone could have imagined. With his gift prices at FC04 for servicing, he was breaking even, rather than making money. His banner should be all over, for what he has done for s2ki.

Pay to play could have two meanings...out of your pocket, or out of your heart. Both are major contributions....

BTW BASS....Come on down to tech for a slave cyl mod, on me

Thanks bill and you said it much more eloquently than I

"Pay to play could have two meanings...out of your pocket, or out of your heart." but i am afraid the MGT here does not see that by the changes that are forthcoming..

again please know i didn't mean to single you out as i know you too are an asset to s2ki and Metro but it was simply used an example. I too would love to see Jeff and Joe's sig line everywhere BUT with the changes proposed this may be a thing of the past

again just stating my opinion as Erik will do whatever he wants and he has a right to because this is his board BUT people are what make this board great and he will be limiting people with his changes

[QUOTE]
I honestly agree with the others who say something will be lost when information written by the members and tsbs become hidden because someone does not support the site
