Update on forthcoming changes to s2ki
I'm quite tired of the "what do I get for my money" argument that invariably comes up when member update threads like this one come up. It doesn't matter if you use S2KI E-mail, photo hosting, etc....I've NEVER used any of the value added features members are entitled to. I contribute because I'm here a lot, I'm an S2k Enthusiast, and this is the biggest and only worthwhile S2K community on the Internet. If you're here a lot that alone justifies basic membership. If you've gotten value from the sponsors or attending meets organized through this site it at least justifies the $20 basic membership and realistiically justifies the $50 premium membership. If you come here once a month there's no reason you should contribute. If you're here a lot and complaining that you don't get enough for $20 to pay anything then I have to give you a look like this
. If you're complaining about a $20 investment into this community and you consider yourself an avid S2K enthusiast then you're really not complaining about the $20 - you're just cheap. Sorry to say that but it's true.

I think if you took the $20 or $50 and divided it by the amount of time you spend on the site it is a bargain even before you factor in the fun, friends and knowledge gained from the site.

Erik is required by law to have a leased office premesis, Muz. you should have made the s2ki World HQ meet, then you'd have seen it. It's a simple but functional place
I didn't measure it myself, but I'm not sure it is as big as 1500 sq ft?!

Strike, ever the diplomat, heh?ever heard of the addage, vote with your wallet?
i don't agree with how some things are/have been handled here. i'm voting with my wallet on those issues. i've stated them before politely and in civil discussion. and i don't intend to discuss them again as the decisions have been made, so the point is moot.
hey, it's only $20 right? i guess my vote really isn't worth all that much, but it is mine.
so, call me cheap and roll little virtual eyes. you aren't hurting my feelings. but asking that i support out of the deep gratitude of my heart just isn't enough...
and Muz, i can see your point of view. perhaps ads aren't the best way to add value. they were just one example of something that i would feel added value. at the same time though, i have used some great sponsors of this site based upon those ads. and i might have missed those opportunities w/o them...
I can't believe what I am hearing from all the administrators, moderators and organizers of this site. I guess now I understand that S2ki is all about money and membership. Forget the talk about the "S2000 Community", no one in power here cares about them, every one only cares about dues and membership. People are giving lip service to the "S2000 community" because it sounds good and noble.
I understand that it takes money to run the site, but at the end of the day, it would help me to sleep better knowing that the membership dues goes towards helping the "S2000 community" instead of just going to serve other paying members. All of us can sit around with our own cars and chat about what a great site S2ki is, but when a new S2000 owner comes around asking for help, the best we can say is "Pay to play" and I don't think that helps the "S2000 community" any.
Until this organization understands what serving the "S2000 community" truly means, I would not want to be a part of it. Sorry.

I herely thank cthree, the S2ki members, the S2ki sponsors, and all the advertisers who help to make this site possible. But what are you (the due paying members) doing for the new comers to the S2000 community?

This attitude is a body slam to all of us local forum CO's, who ARE the ones on the local front line....mentoring the newbies (with the help of many others), answering questions, encouraging and organizing events, etc.
Making this $20 thing a vendetta only b/c of a withdrawal of the 'search' option from guests is.......ridiculous.
No smiley faces. No rolling eyes. Just a statement fact from someone who's been here longer than most all of the complainers on this thread.
