Hey 9 out of 10 times I get a 1457 its as simple as a loose gas cap. But im sure you already checked that. Josh as far as goodwill honda requires a lot from a customer to assist ,especially lately i havent seen a 100% help in a while.

This is all moot now. After compiling all of the helpful information in this thread, I set aside a couple of hours this morning to troubleshoot. When I started the car to back it onto some ramps, the Check Engine light was no longer illuminated. Just because I was there and interested in what I might find, I removed, insepected and replaced the 2p connector for the EVAP bypass solenoid valve. There was no sign of corrosion. The Check Engine light is still out after two driving cycles, so I guess it fixed itself .

Code 1457 is not a loose gas cap, the correct code for that is 1456. When the CE light came on the first thing I did was to remove and replace the gas cap. The car went through about 10 driving cycles without having the light turn off, so I cannot guess as to why it came on in the first place, and why it went off.

Sounds like your solution was very similar to mine. When this happend to me the dealership said it wasn't something important and it didn't impact the performance of the car.

Sometimes it takes that many ignition cycles to test all the OBD functions. Some are tested everytime the ignition is cycled, some only tested X cycles of the ignition. I would clear the code, if you have not yet. Then wait and see if the code returns. I know that the Integras have an issue with the EVAP solenoid, at least the GS-R's do. The function of the EVAP system is to collect the gaseous form of gasoline, and not vent it to the atmosphere. Sometimes the charchol canisters get blasted with fuel vapor and get overloaded. Usually happens when there are drastic temperature changes. Like a 70 degree morning followed by a 90 degree mid-day.

Anyway, Josh, when you find that guy with the scanner, let me know... he owes me money!

Josh,

do you still need the use of a scanner?

I have one, and it will reset the ecu log.

Mitch

So, even though the CEL is no longer on, the code is stored in the ECU? Is there any reason why I should clear it out?

MX5racer is just goofing around about the scanner. I was planning to have him come over to help with the diagnostics. And by "help" I mean that he would do the work and I'd try not to get in the way too much.
