Mechanic Overfilled Oil
#51
All oil filters should only be hand tightened until its snug (with the exception of Cartidge style filters). The rubber gasket will expand while the engine runs anyway. If its too tight and you don't have enough man beef to loosen it by hand a generic band style filter wrench will be the best bet without crushing the end of the filter.
As Joey mentioned, the filter on the s2000 needs to be torqued. The OEM filter has instructions right on it. 7/8's of a turn from gasket contact, or the specified torque ( around 18 ft lbs? ). There are even markings on it from 1 to 8, so you can see how much it needs to be tightened if you don't have a torque wrench handy. There is no way that 7/8's of a turn from gasket contact or ~18ft lbs can be done by hand, even with forearms like mine.
