Default leaking something

My tranmission or something near my transmission is leaking fluid. I am pretty sure the fluid is not motor oil as the oil that is leaking out looks fairly clean. I am suspecting that it is Transmission fluid. I install a shift knob yesterday and had to twist the shift knob/lever like hell to get the stock knob off. I notice the leak today. Is my guess that they are link possible? Could twisting the shift lever cause a leak in somewhere?

I jack the car up and it looks like it is coming out the slave master cylinder piston cover. Any help peoples?

Taking off the stock knob is and should be veryy easy.If it wasn't then you were probably doing something wrong. After loosening the nut on it,it should twist right off while still in neutral. On your post is says you twisted the "lever" like hell.If you were yanking on the shifter crazy who knows what you could have moved.

What color is the fluid? You sure its not rear main seal?

Well when I finally got the knob off, there was lock tight stuff on the thread. I had to use a wrench on the locking nut and a set of pliers to break the knob loose on the threads.

the rear main seal is the for motor oil right? I do not believe it is motor oil as the oil is clean and the oil has about 3500mi on it and should be dirty.

I do have royal purple fluids (motor and tranny and diff) and the fluid has a purple tint making me to believe it is tranny fluid.

Did you change the crush washers for the diff/tranny when you changed it? If not, that could be the problem.

I did not change them but I check there and it does not appear to be leaking from there. That part of the tranny is clean.

It appears mainly around the bellhousing meeting the block. I guess it could be the rear main seal.

Get that seal swapped asap then. A seal is cheaper than a new tranny.
