Default Headunit install?

Any one has put an aftermarket headunit onto your S yet? I really want to do it but I am very scared to mess with the new ride. Anyone who has done it want to help do mines? Thanks for your time.

I can help you do yours if you get the right gear... it's easy to do and you really won't need help.

There's a whole part of this forum dedicated to it, click on the Electronics Junkies badge under my sig and read around in there a bit.

Take a small regular screwdriver with the blade wrapped in electical tape and pry down and out on the top, apx. 25% in from each end. Then you pull on the door up and away to lift the assembly off.

That's a bit simplistic of course. The only hard part is getting over the fear of damaging the part in order to apply enough pressure to get the top clips undone

But it's not difficult, I've done about a dozen removals now (mostly on my car).

yeah im pretty scared. lol since this is a car i really don't want to mess up. 25% from each corner? wouldn't that mean there's 8 clips?

No, there's 4 clips... and it will feel like you're right on the edge of breaking them... the first time. After the first time it'll come out easy as cake. Now I can take mine off w/o any tools (after the second or third time)

Another option is to use a hooked driver... then you can just hook it under one of the vents... or if you have two of them, even better.

Good luck,
