A Split Proposal
unnecessary... i already bounce around enough as it is between subforums to see what others have going on or to see if there's an interesting thread worth reading. an additional subforum for an area as small as the dfw metroplex is ridiculous in my opinion and even a bit greedy...

there are already four subforums dedicated to our state... do we really need an additional one?
this should be a non issue; i have no idea why everyone is so up in arms about it.

Good discussion...
I really would prefer to not have a split, but now that we have proposed such, at least we can let some of the dirty laundry air out...
Now that we're having this discussion, I have seen us start to resolve some of the primary underlying issues...
The main source of conflict of late has been that some on Dallas side have felt alienated by the Ft. Worth side, and vice versa. What we REALLY need to is to get together and talk these things out THOROUGHLY so that we can have our forum back to normal.
My main issues right now are that I can't read a post about one group getting together without the other group getting offended. You are correct in saying that the numbers are already dwindling to the point that it might hurt the group to divide it, however we are suffering an unhealthy level of polarization.
Please understand that I REALLY don't want to split this forum, nor split this community, but how else will we get our forum back if we don't talk about the issue at hand and look at what is going on? We're not trying to make a big deal out of a small one (although some might find that debatable). There is, however, a problem that needs to be worked out.
If we could feel free to post information on localized meetings here without other groups getting offended, then we wouldn't have the drama that we have now.
Lastly, a group of us will be getting together this coming Saturday (Nov. 29th) at 7:30 at Dickey's BBQ in Bedford
(817) 354-5551
501 N Industrial Blvd, Bedford, TX 76021
and I would like to see everyone on this forum there so that we can meet up, hang out, and have a good time. While we are there, it would be a good idea to get to know who everyone is so that if there are any personal issues, we can work it out in person. I will post a topic dedicated to this shortly.

If we start thinking of ourselves as the NTx group and keep in mind that this comprises a large geographic region, then it shouldn't be a problem. We'll have to keep in mind that we can't attend all events because they may be too far away. There's nothing that can be done about that. Events shouldn't be (and as far as I know aren't) planned with the intention of excluding certain groups, but that doesn't mean that they can't be planned in a location that benefits certain groups (or even certain individuals, in some cases), particularly if the majority of expected attendees for that event all reside near the chosen area.
Again, as long as no one is explicitly and intentionally excluded, I see no reason for any problems.
well said mxt_77...
we do, however, need to recognize that each geographic subgroup has it's own identity (not to be confused with a clique). and as long as we understand and celebrate our identities while not excluding one another, then we won't have any problems.
cliques are exclusionary, but a group with it's own relative identity is healthy...

Exactly what I was thinking. All meets are open to all groups, if you're too lazy or just don't care too much to make it to an event in any particular geographic area no hard feelings. End of story.
I've been absent from the club because I haven't had an S2k. Now that I have one again I'm ready to get more involved.
I see a "split" as counterproductive. I also see a "if you can't make the meet, F you" as counterproductive as well. Perhaps no one from the mid-cities or Fort Worth has stepped up to set up "club" events on that side, or volunteered for an officer position, or maybe they just haven't been tactful enough.
If the clubs split I see that probably ending autocrossing as a split probably won't allow for an centralized coordination between the two groups. Maybe a FW group would attend enough events to be able to maintain them, maybe not. It seems to me that if we don't put an end to the bad blood here and now it will only worsen the relationship and we'll end up with two useless clubs.
Every other car club manages to have just one club. When I actively ran the NT Prelude Owner's Group we managed that just fine, with members from west of FW to east of Dallas and as far north as Sherman.
I spend a majority of my time with the Ft. Worth group although I technically live in the mid-cities area. I work in North Dallas, so I'm available for any Dallas events, however, we have consistent attendance at a weekly meet in Ft. Worth.
