I'm not sure why people feel the need to post stuff like this in a thread that is meant to address a problem.

Thanks for your valuable input
You're welcome. Stop acting like a bunch of whiny children, and I'll stop calling it like I see it.

If the clubs split I see that probably ending autocrossing as a split probably won't allow for an centralized coordination between the two groups.
The Ft. Worth S2000 people attending or not attending has nothing to do with the autocross series going on. As I pointed out in another thread, they made up less than 10% of the the attendees this year. Besides, half of next year's autocross officers/helpers are from Ft. Worth (Miata drivers). The available venues are what drives location of autocrosses not who can attend and where they live.

I will post my question again.

how many people make up the Dallas, Fort Worth area?
Total demographics or active participants on the board?

I find it amusing that people are bitching about having to drive a distance to attend a meet. What the hell is the point of having a sports car if you're not going to drive it?

I LOVE having opportunities to take my sports car out for a nice long drive. Sometimes I drive a hundred miles and have no destination in mind and end up right back at home after looping the metroplex.

People that have honestly gotten their feelings hurt because Event A is in Dallas and Event B is in Ft. Worth need to get a life.

I can't speak for Mr Matt or any of the "Fort Worth" people but I've always sensed that the club catered to the Dallas, N. Dallas, or Plano crowd with no regard for other members.
I disagree. As Mark pointed out in a different thread, the "official" club meets are spread out all over the metroplex in a relatively even fashion. However, it's the unofficial meets that seem to be skewed to the N.Dallas area, because that is where the active members have been, historically.

Similar to the old NTPOG events, which seemed more "Mid-Cities Centric" to me, the activity is going to be focussed wherever the active members are located.

In my days of running the club we put on events all over the Metroplex and beyond. In its heyday we had 2 or 3 events per month with members happily driving in from Dallas/FtWorth/Mid-Cities/Weatherford/Tyler. In an earlier thread, Elistan noted events that the current Director group continues to do the same.

This disagreement stems from one or two people getting their feelings hurt about an autocross planning meeting being moved due to a timing conflict. Most of the people who actually attended were from FW and mid-cities. Here

I agree...and yeah, it does seem that the club as a whole caters more to Dallas, N. Dallas, and Plano crowd. That said, one could argue the number of members being weighted towards that area, however, the Ft. Worth group is actually getting out there and bringing in people to our S2000 community who haven't been on this forum.

I would prefer to not have a split group, and what I would like to see is for there to be more centrally located events (especially when there is decision making involved...because if there is not a move toward equal representation, there won't be a motivation for equal involvement).
We would also like to see it be encouraged for there to be sanctioned events on either side of the metroplex...it would allow us to keep our identity while expanding our membership base for the North Texas Club as a whole.

I'm willing to take on a leadership role in this...because I have no life (obviously).

If someone could post a poll in the main it'd be helpful... i dont know the FW area but suggestions for "where are you located" in the dallas area from east to mid-cities...

East Texas
Forney
East Dallas (Garland, Mesquite, Rockwall)
Downtown Dallas
North Dallas (Addison, Plano, Richardson)
Far North Dallas (McKinney/Denton(

Mr. Matt, don't let Cosmos or Iain discourage interest in western activities like the BBQ or lights drive. Their personalities are much rougher on the web than in person. That is, unless you park in Iain's space at TWS. That's the only time I've seen him lose it in person.
It's not parking in my space. It's refusing to move even after I've kindly asked you to do so. That's what really sets me off.

Look - I'm not trying to discourage any events. I just think all the concern over who attends what and where it's located is silly. The DFWMiata board has been in existence for half a decade, and we have groups on both sides of the metroplex that regularly get together for social events. We have people who go to both, drive from Murphy to Mansfield for a tech day, or whatever. Heck, you'll even see people joke on the board about "westsiders" and "eastsiders", much like you'll hear the track day guys poking fun at the cone dodgers and vice versa. Yet in the end we're all a part of the same group.

By contrast it seems like all anyone wants to do on this board is whine about how their needs aren't being met. That and type like an idiot.
