A Split Proposal
Again, here is a partial list of locations of official club meets:
Such as Joe T Garcias in FW
Buca di Beppo's in Southlake
Addison stuff
Lake Texoma
Richardson stuff
Grand Buffet in Irving
A garage tour in Mansfield (?)
Main Event in Lewisville
Sneaky Pete's in Lewisville
Gaylord in Grapevine
Spring Creek BBQ in Grapevine
La Hacienda in Colleyville
BD's Mongolian in Las Colinas
Weekend tours in Austin/Fredricksburg
Drive/lunch to Muenster
Poker run to Granbury
Drive from Euless to Hudson Oaks
(Note that some of those drives at the end there were organized by geneb who I haven't heard from in a long time, and nobody has stepped up to help out much.)
Todd, on one hand we've always tried to spread out events (see above) - we do realize this is a large area. (Although sometimes this can be difficult because those of us with the responsibility for organizing such club events have only limited knowledge of various areas.) But on the other hand, many of the social gatherings have NOT been affiliated with the official club in any way. The Thursday Plano Lunch thing, for example - that was just some people who work in that area who wanted to get together every once in a while. I guess that could be considered "catering" to the eastern crowd with "no regard" to western owners but that's not it at all - would you reasonably expect somebody who posts "Lets have lunch Tuesday near Coit & 190" to post up a similar event in the Sotckyards? No, of course not - for random, impromptu and even regular-but-not-officially-NTS2KOC get-togethers its up to whoever wants to see it happen to make it happen. The fact that there are few events in Bedford has nothing to do with Club Directors disregarding Ft Worth owners - we've scheduled plenty of events much futrther west than that - and all to do with, I suspect, relative S2000 owning population density and activity. Anybody who wants more Bedford events, for example, needs to look towards Bedford area owners - MisterMatt's made a great start at https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=651201.
The "Club" already spreads things out. (Although with minimal interest in an official NTS2KOC organization these days, I don't see many social events being done by the club in 2009 except for perhaps an Ennis bluebonnet tour or the like. Anybody who would like to see more, now's the time to get active with the club!
As you said "this is the first I've seen someone stand up and vocally note interest in meets west of I35E" - the club can only succeed with lots of member participation and lately we've had very little interest of any sort - for either Dallas OR Ft Worth stuff.)
NTS2KOC is open to all events anywhere (even out of state!)
The North Texas S2000 Owners forum on s2ki is open to all events anywhere.
Me personally, along with EgoThreat and Temming, are open to all events anywhere.

the people that live around here that dont get on the forum wont drive all the way to dallas just to hang out with snooty rich bastards talking about everything but the club! i personaly went to a lewisville meet and no one would introduce themselves. jsut because we dont want to drive doesnt mean we cant go we would like to go. its just to stupid to drive 80 miles to hang out with people that didnt even drive the s2000s.
So when you go to a holiday party at work, do you just talk about work? Man, I hope not... and I wouldn't expect people to only talk about cars at a car club meetings.
Also, I'm not sure who you're talking about but the people that "didn't event drive s2000s", but I would venture to guess that those people used to have S2000s and drove them longer than you've had yours (and possibly longer than you will have yours).

Sounds like you had a bad experience... however: I've gone to a ton of meets where a new person never introduced themselves to anybody. Usually one or two people introduce themselves and the person remains a "wall flower" so to speak and does not engage in the group. What I'm saying is that it's not just the group's job to make sure that you are in on the conversation.

I am personally inviting you to a club sponsored event - The Christmas/Holiday Party. I know it is a little bit of a drive for you, but it will be worth it. You will meet a number of great people and the environment will promote conversation. I hope you will consider joining us.

NTS2KOC Bylaws.
Purposes. The nature of the activities to be conducted and the purposes to be promoted and carried out are as follows:
<snip>
B. To encourage fellowship, commingling, and social contact among Honda S2000 owners and enthusiasts through Club publications and related social and recreational activities;

I also disagree with your point that club meetings are business meetings. Yes, there are certain meetings with real agendas and topics that must be covered (like the recent autocross meeting and the 'vote for officers' meeting), but in general, the meetings are purely social events. S2000 ownership and enthusiasm is something we all have in common, but that's not generally enough to keep the social bonds strong. There are often other common interests as well.
Oh, and reading the bylaws reminds me of something... Dues.
How many of you have actually paid your club dues this year? I'll admit that I haven't paid them in about 2 years (since I stopped autocrossing), so I'm technically not a member of the club. I suspect many of the people here who are arguing about how the club should be run/organized haven't paid their dues either. So, really, what right do you have to complain?

You're forgetting the two community organizers once owned S2000's. They continued to support the club and forum long after their S2000 departed. (clovis, Temming)
There are many active contributors that don't even own S2000's anymore and some never have.
I went a year without owning one, but I drove my Civic Si or my bike to a few meets.
And TX_phantom is one of those guys that usually drove his other car to meets instead of his S2000. So what's your point?
