So, were all drivers OK? I was definitely amazed to see the camera car come out the other side of that one.

That blows!

Is their insurance going to cover for that or what?

Oopsie... the Bimmer has a Rookie sticker, too.

And no, I doubt they have racing insurance, and your normal auto insurance policy doesn't cover accidents that occur on the racetrack.

So how much are the racing insurance and stuff?
Is it pretty expensive?

Race cars don't have on-track insurance, at least I don't know of any. It would be waaaaaaaaay too expensive. The only insurance policy I was able to find for my race car was PST (paddock, storage, and transportation) insurance. In other words, if the car is moving under its own power, it's not covered. It's covered when it's sitting in the paddock, in a storage facility, or while it's being transported.

My insurance policy is an agreed upon value, full loss policy. i.e. damage is not covered unless it's a full loss (fire while in storage, theft, etc).

The rule of thumb is that if you can't walk away from it financially, don't race it. I know every time I go out on the track, I may leave without my car at the end of the weekend.
