Aftermarket Alarms
Does anyone here have a non-Honda Alarm on their cars?
If so - does anyone have a "window auto-lift" function when they arm the alarm. I had my alarm fitted today but the guy had a few problems when trying to get this function to work, he was wondering if anyone else had managed to get it working.
Cheers

I think the Clifford 600 boys have really struggled with this too, you can either have the total closure option or keep the 'one touch' operation but not both I'm sure they will pipe up in the morning

I would imagine that the problem is due to the two windows being operated by independant controllers. The driver's window is operated by the control box in the door, the passenger windows by the soft top controller. There is no auto up on the passenger side, so there is no cutout circuit.
I think your installer will need a copy of the wiring circuits to make sense of it.

I have the Clifford 600, if you are on about the windows going up when you set the alarm that works fine with mine.
If you are on about the drivers side "auto up" button, then it goes all the way up..... then comes half way back down so no, that doesn't work with the 600.

I will be in the market for a non Honda alarm
when my car arrives in 2 weeks, can anyone
advise on a suitable alarm for the Honda that
does operate the windows satisfactorily or is the
Clifford 600 the best alarm but with this one drawback ?.
Any help on what type of alarm would be very helpful.
Thanks
Mollyslip.

Clifford or Toad are generally accepted to be the best alarms I think. I personally woudn't bother with the window closure option for the reasons S2000RJ has outlined. I don't think it's feasible without some sort of wiring mod.

Clifford is very good apart from the 1 touch window up operation, so you just hold the button instead, no biggie.
Do a search in the UK forum and there are a few more posts about the Clifford alarm.

I have had the Toad C5 fitted, my installer had a quick look at the door mechanisms etc yesterday and found all of the relevant wires etc, but he didn't have a lifter module to try it with (It will be here on Wednesday with the interior microwave sensor). He does seem to think it will be a bit of a pain though! I will let you know how he gets on.

A local installer has recommended a Laserline unit290In upgrade kit. This can have the microwave sensor and a tilt sensor. I believe that you can add a proximity sensor as well. I am not sure if the proximity sensor is worth doing unless it can be switched off independently from the interior sensor. The price I have been quoted is quite good, bit I have no experience of Laserline products
