Default Alarm problem on 07

Hi guys, need some help please.

I have had to disconnect the battery to charge it on my 07, and when I reconnect it the alarm will not stop.

I have closed the bonnet, all the doors, locked, unlocked the car several times, and although the alarm stops after a bit (guess that's the normal stop after seconds) it then starts again. The funny thing is I can start the car, so the immobiliser is not kicking in.

I have locked through the manual and of the FAQ and can't see anything that helps

Any ideas, I guess it needs resetting but how?

Thanks

Colin

Normally the alarm going off for no apparent reason can be attributed to a failing battery. I assume you are locking/unlocking the car with the fob? Might be worth getting the battery properly tested, places like Kwikfit will test it for free.

Yes I am using the fob, don't think it's the battery as it's good enough to start the car

Mine would start OK as well when my alarm started playing up. It defies logic I know.

I have now charged the battery to full capacity, and re-connected the battery, and the alarm still goes off, and I can't cancel it, but I can start the car

Does anybody have any ideas.....please

Are the indicator lights and alarm light on the dash flashing with the siren or is it just the siren going? If it is just the siren, it is probably knackered. Lights and alarm though could mean a fault elsewhere.

I have suffered from the siren on my 04 as two have failed.

The first one decided to start drawing power but did so silently. The rest of the alarm system was acting as normal more or less. I only discovered when I was getting a flat battery and started to look for the cause. The siren only came alive by blaring away non-stop just before I decided to go in and remove it. It was as if it knew its days were over. My local dealer claimed a similar issue has afflicted sirens on some CRVs they had had in.

My second siren decided to die as well but did so by suddenly and continuously going off when I used the alarm fob as normal to get into the car. The rest of the alarm system deactivated as it should have done and likewise the immobiliser so I could drive the car around, just with a wailing siren but an otherwise normal car.

If it is a duff siren, stand by for when Honda quote you a new siren - £440 or so for small plastic siren with a cheap rechargeable battery in it. It is Italian made and seem to made by the people who make Cobra car alarms.

Thanks Lusaka, it sounds like mine is the same as your first problem, as the car still under warranty, I will contact the dealer to get them to resolve
