Default Alarm problem

I experienced my first problem with the alarm last night Car parked outside a shop for 5 minutes and when I went back to it, I put a bag in the boot and then unlocked the drivers side door and opened it at which point the alarm sounded. So I got in and pressed the unlock button again in the hope it would turn off. No joy and people looking at me so I thought '****, just hope it starts as I'm only 2 minutes from home'. The engine did start but the alarm continued sounding (presumably, the hazards were going, too) but I decided to take it home rather than mess about there. Throughout the journey the siren would stop for about 2 seconds then restart again repeatedly.

Got it home, got out, tried the lock and unlock buttons several times but no joy. Went in the house to look for the Honda roadside assistance number and then remembered it was in the car on the tax disk holder. I went back and pressed the unlock button then got it - it stopped. I've tried to reproduce it since with no repeat.

I remembered mention of problems on here so I did a search and found a thread in which Bassoctopus and Bada Bing mention the same trouble I had i.e. open the boot first and alarm went off when the door was opened. Bassoctopus mentioned his trouble had gone away after a new battery was fitted. Has anybody else had this problem and found a solution? Bada - do you still get this every so often and do you just put up with it? My car's only a few weeks old but I don't fancy taking it back just yet if it's going to be stuck at the dealers without them recreating the problem.

For those that have had this - is there a way to turn it off? Should I have got out and then locked, unlocked and re-entered? While searching on Honda alarms I noticed a thread in the US section about a reset button under the steering column but haven't noticed this on mine so presume it's a feature of the US alarm or certain models.

EXACTLY the same thing happened to me last week. My car is almost a year old now with 25k on the clock and i have never experienced this befor. I had the roof down i went to the shop, came out and put my shopping in the boot, went to unlock the car and as soon as i got in the alarm went off. It alarmed for a couple of mins then stopped and then started again... after about 1 hour of this happening and me trying to pull out every fuse to disable the alarm with no joy i decided to just drive home. When i got home (thankfully only 5 mis away) i had to disconnect the battery which didnt stop the alarm but when i re connected the battery the fault had gone. It hasnt happened again since then but i now keep an adjustable in the boot (just in case). I did tell the dealer who said he had never heard of this happening befor and said he would check the alarm when i have it serviced next!!!
sounds like a fob off to me!

Probably not related to my problem (and Bada Bing's) the pre 04 cars have a different alarm system from the later cars which have factory fitted systems.

Good luck with it
