Axel Stands !!!! Help
I had earmarked this weekend to make and fit a front grill and to paint the calipers. Bought axel stands at Halfords and just found out the S2000 Jack in the boot doesn't take the car high enough to get the stands under the car !
Any suggestions, do I need a different jack ? If so where does it get positioned to lift the car safetly. Also where do you put the axel stands , as I looked under the car, but didn't see an obvious place to put them ?

I haven't got or used Axle stands. No doubt someone will advise. Have you thought about a couple of metal car ramps? Halfords etc sell those pretty cheaply. Just drive onto them. They're solid and safe and give you plenty of room to get under the car. I have a couple of old thick baulks of timber I keep in the garage and with bricks under one end I can get plenty of height. Again it's just a question of driving onto them. Good luck with the jobs.

Gus,
they must be bloody big axle stands!!!, I have 4 that I bought from Costco that easily go under. Put the axle stands on the chassis, if you look under the car youll see where it runs down from the front, put the front ones as close as possible tio the front of the car just before the chassis goes up into the engine bay, at the back youll see two big black tubes, place the rear stands under these.
The jack should be good enough to give you clearance just keep going with it, if that fais then the only thing I could suggest is to put something sturdy under the jack to raise it up and then try again. Youll probably find jacking up one side will also lift the other side, the suspension is very stiff
Good Luck

The scissor jack from the boot will lift the car enough to get a trolley jack under. Then lift the car using the trolley jack, put the axel stands uder and lower the car onto them. It's a good idea to leave the trolley jack under as well as a safety measure. As to where to place the jacks, and stands RTFM.

Anything else would end up a bit like ****ing....
But being serious, the owners manual is actually good for things like this - nice diagrams.

Thanks for all your comments guys, I ending up using a book to allow enough height for the axel stands. Grill is now complete and installed , just the calipers to do.
