Can I jetwash my roof ...
Hello,
had to get a bit closer to the roof that I have previously with the jet washer the other day (bird plop problem) and I was a bit nervous about the whole thing. When I saw the roof in the sunshine the next day though, the bit I'd blasted was a much darker (cleaner?) black colour.
I've always just given the roof a bit of a gentle spray before, but would like to give it full ooompf if it's going to clean it.
Thoughts and opinions appreciated.
Cheers

That's probably the birdshit (it's viciously alkaline)
Try cleaning and conditioning the whole of the roof (see cleaning!).
Garage jetwashes aren't too bad, if you avoid the window seals.
Kaercher types are dangerous - I got carried away trying to get rid of a stubborn shitehawk deposit and nearly blew the fabric-effect off the roof!
Be careful!

I regularly use a supermarket garage one with now problems, but some of these mega powerful ones look a bit too much to me. If in doubt use it from further away until you are happy it's not causing any damage.
(my dad once used a pressure washer at home to clean a friend's red Renault 5 - he stopped fairly sharpish when he understood why it was turning pink ! )

Avoid ones with pressure multiplying nozzles ie Karcher Dirtblaster. They have a habit of removing paint and cutting into soft rubber.
Use a soft bristle brush rather for stubborn marks.
*edit*
Do the whole roof with the brush, not just the area with the marks
