Default Changing the sidelights

Has anyone managed to work out how to do this ??

I am trying to put in a set of blue look sidelights to match the headlights (rather than the yellow ones at present) but once you have peeled back the inner wheel arch you then need the hands of a 2 year old to get the fitting / bulb out.

Has anyone managed to do this yet - and I have heard that the blue bulbs don't last very long. Is it worth it then !?

Comments and advice welcomed.

lol, I've changed the indicator bulbs twice now (Silver Enigma then SilverVision) and must admit that the sockets are a pretty awkward fit. I have a set of blue side light bulbs to fit but am afraid they will be a bit too "MaxPower". If you do the change can you post a pic of what it looks like

I'd guess the bulbs shouldn't burn out any faster than standard ones, the ones I picked up look like standard ones dipped in blue paint!

Guy, I assume by sidelights you mean the indicators. Your Honda manual tells you how to pull back the wheel arch lining and get the bulbs out. Yes it is tight but not impossible.

As far as blue bulbs go, I found I could do a better job by spray painting the original orange bubs silver. Just give them a light dusting and you will find the orange colour disappears without a significant reduction in light intensity.

Total cost less than one pound for a spray can. If you don't like the look then you can always scratch the silver paint back off with a fingernail or razorblade and return them to standard in under a minute.

Personally though, I am very happy with mine.

Your silver paint idea is great - I was very tempted to try it but stumbled across the Philips SilverVision bulbs at the last minute.

I believe Guy was refering to the the "side" headlamp bulbs (the very low power marker lights below the indicator bulbs), these are referred to as side lights in the UK for some arcane reason

I know of one UK S2000 with blue bulbs in the side lights. He replaced them while he had the headlights out. Looks very nice.

Thanks for your comments. It's going in for a service this week so I'll get them to do it then (they may have smaller hands!).

I'll do a before and after photo - Max Power here we come......

"Side lights" are known as "Parking lights" elsewhere I believe.

The UK term "Side lights" comes from the days when cars had separate mudguards over the wheels. The headlamps were often set "inboard" of these between the mudguard and the radiator but these low power lamps were set atop the mudguards to give an indication to other road users as to where the "sides" of the car were.
