What labour are you expecting to pay to fit it?

I'm getting my clutch done at tegiwa, so the box will go on at the same time. I think its an offer they have on for £550 fitted, which when you think its going to cost you nearly £400 to buy a clutch, seems like a good deal.

I'm only doing this because the crunchy 2nd and 3rd make the car a pain to drive properly.

Ah thats cool so they are happy to include the gearbox fitting in the £550?

Kinda shame my clutch is fine!

Yea, it makes no difference to them I suppose as the box is off anyway. My clutch is ok too, just makes sense to do it at the same time.

I'm very tempted to make the trip to Stoke and use these Guys for my next service rather than using a Honda dealer as the previous owners have, the pricing and the content on the web site make an appealing read.

Back on thread my car whines a little too but I have just put this down to the character of the car,a bit like an everyday Caterham but with some comfort

I popped to the gearbox specialists the other night for them to have a listen.

They agree that it's input shaft bearing noise but have given me a silly price to fix it. £480 to remove and refit the box plus £495 for a complete rebuild, replacing the main bearings. All plus vat. £1170 total.

I'm tempted to either get a spare box and do it myself or get some quotes from elsewhere.

Any suggestions on garages on the south coast?

That seems a fair price really. That's why I've taken a chance on one from a breaker.

I would agree on the £495 for the rebuild and would hapily pay that all day long, but the same again to remove and refit the box is OTT.
