I thought that there was a case recently that went to the Court of Appeal where a woman refused to give the information of who was driving and claimed that it was a breach of her civil rights to force her to give information that could incriminate herself.

The reason I think that so many people do not contest is the fear of denying you were the driver when you were and the consequences there after - perverting the course of justice etc.

None of these possibilities are infact true.

I got done about 3 months ago driving a car that was actually owned by my mum. I was gonna try the same kinda thing - who was driving mum or me? - they couldn't prove it cos the picture was from the rear of the car.
She consequently received the letter that said she had to either provide details of the driver at the time or take the fine herself. If she had said "she did not know who was driving at the time" (come on, really.....they're not that dumb!) then she would have had to take the fine and 3 points.

Obviously tried insanely to get her to take it and not add

Well, on Anthony's advice I had a good look at the back of the evil grey ba$tard this morning (it is right next to the Total station I use for fuel and I topped up this morning - it was flashing away with gay abandon!!) There are indeed 2 holes (aprox 3cm diam) and both of these were closed from the inside with (GATSO grey) covers, so there is hope! (though, of course, today is Wednesday, and my brain fade occured on Monday )
