Default Gear Selection Problems ?

Hi guys,

Any of you having problems getting second gear ?

For some reason this week i find the gearbox sometimes grinds when trying to select second after driving for a while. Its occurs maybe two or three times a day

Anybody had any problems ?

Recently did have faulty Clutch of which Honda replaced under warranty.

..................this sounds very much like the much documented '1-2 grind' discussed on the main 'Car Talk' forum.

It is a known fault (suposedly fixed on MY2001 cars - what year is your car?) and Honda will fix it. I believe it is a big job tho'. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - try a search on '1-2 grind' on the Car Talk forum.

Hope you soon get it sorted.

All the best

Ian

Is it a grinding sound or a notchy-ness when going into gear.
My car is notchy sometimes going into second and sometimes third.
They say if you have 'the grind' you certainly know about it.
I'm going to live with mine as its probably going to loosen with time.

Ian thanks for that i belive they is a known problem i'll have to deal with it.

Andy .... No its a grind for definate !!! My cars now down 18000 miles.

The problem only started this week ... so hey it took the honda dealer two full days to deal with my old clutch problem so im certainly used to having to drive around in a curtesy car !!!

Lost my car for a week when they changed the gearbox/clutch but they badly damaged the red rocker cover in getting the gearbox off. If you do get it done check the work afterwards.

I had no problem getting the work agreed after my dealer test drove my car. Even got the alloys changed when they saw the way they had pitted so badly.
