I often VTEC below 4 miles, as it is only 5.2 miles to work. I love my car and, I love driving it. If I didn't do this I would hardly VTEC, as I am always too hung over on the weekend. I agree with Lotusman Honda engines are built to last. I have seen S2ks with 60,000 plus on the clock. Are you trying to tell me that they had all that milage put on them in 2-3 years and were never VTEC'ed cold? I doubt that. I suppose it depends how long you keep the car. I change mine every 18-20 months so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Also as an after thought. If it breaks just get it fixed. I can't believe you are worried 'cause to VTEC'ed it once from cold. I'd be more worried that it was properly looked after and run in before you owned it. Enjoy the car, that what they are for!

Indeed from what I have found if the engine is too cold it wont let you thrash it, so just go out there and have some fun!
It is designed to last and be thrashed, so I am fairly sure it will be ok!
