Default Help - Alpine Patch lead not working.

I am now pulling my hair out - what's left of it!

I have got the autoleads harness to connect to the dash controls and the alpine patch lead to fit to the 9846R HU and I am following the instructions as follows:

1 - Keys out of the ignition.
2 - Plug patch lead into interface box.
3 - Connect ISO blocks and aerial to HU (not the jack plug).
4 - Switch on HU and tune in radio station and store.
5 - Switch off ignition and remove keys.
6 - Turn ignition on and let HU power on.
7 - Turn off HU and plug in jack plug.
8 - Turn HU back on and test dash controls.

I have tried over a dozen times now and between each attempt I have reset the HU and removed all connections from the autoleads unit and left for well over a minute like the instructions say, and still no dash controls apart from mute!

Can any of you shine any light onto what I am doing wrong?

Thanks.

Well after a few days of persistence I am still baffled.
I have been searching through the forum and all I seem to have come across is similar problems of only having mute.
At this rate I will be sending it all back and using the OEM.
Just one more question. I have an '06 model. Were there any changes on this model year that are different with the stereo?

When you say the mute is working, does the light go on and off? Does it actually mute the radio/CD?

The pink/black wire from the back of the alpine unit was connected to the pink/black wire on the autoleads harness. This caused the relay to work to interupt the signal to the HU when the mute button was pressed. The display on the HU then said 'interupt'.

I also contacted the place I bought all of the kit off and they talked me through the wiring while sat in the car and they too were baffled that I couldn't get it to work. Tried all sorts of disconnecting/connecting wires in different orders etc.

Anyway, thanks for the replys, but as I am well and truely p****d off with it, all the gear went back and the OEM HU is staying - until I struggle with having to swap cd's all of the time again!

Cheers.

Sorry. In my head what I wrote made sense but reading it back..........!!!!!!

I can't remember if the mute button light came on on the dash when it was pressed, but when I did press the dash mute button the stereo was muted. The display on the stereo screen when it was muted said 'interupt'.

Hope that makes more sense.
