on mine the button just unscrews/bolts from the frame
it should make to -ve through the body with door open (depressed)

if you disconnect the wire and touch on bare body (on the car )
if the light works this proves the switch is at fault.

if not would think about tracing the wiring

My switches were knackered - I took them off sprayed liberally with WD40 and pressed them in and out lots. Fixed the problem and now work a treat

Thank you all for your replies. Much appreciated.

Is it easy to take the door light switch off? When i saw it, it looks like is quite good attached to the body frame.Is it just unclip it because i could not see any screws over there.
