Im with the WD40 method, then rub with a hand towel then polish with shoe polish, come up perfect. Black shoe polish works great on the hood too, the water beads off and it looks more like mohair.

Thanks for the tips!

Not sure what will happen though, my main worry is that its not sticky, its gone off hard like bonding type stuff.
