Just got my new car...
Ha, I know the thread title is a bit misleading, but I finally got shot of the woeful Kumho Ecstas I'd been lumbered with on the back of my MY04. This weekend, a brand new set of RE050 MZs were purchased through Black Circles (very good, try them out!) and fitted at a tyre shop in Yate, near Bristol. So delighted was I with the change that I then spent the next four hours thrashing around the Bristol and Salisbury Plain area, revelling in the difference. It's like night and bloody day having the correct tyres on the car again, I feel so much more confident in it.
So, this is just a message to any new users floating on the forum or thinking of buying (and I know there are a lot of threads on the extreme tyre sensitivity of the S2K, from much more knowledgable forum members than me): whatever you do, for God's sake don't cut corners with tyres on this car. MY04 owners should just stick to Bridgestone OE-fit rubber.
Sermon over!

Plus, Bridgestone's aren't really that great, well not for the UK climate!

Good to hear that.. I've got P6000s on all my wheels and can't seem to kill them doing about 3k per year. Seem quite good in the slimey weather though so can't complain (or compare)

The most important thing is not to mix and match. There are many threads on s02s and s03s from the early days. I always found s02s on my02 to be fantastic, brilliant grip in dry and not half as bad as everyone made out in wet. Snow was a different matter though.

Used to live in Wotton just up the road.
There are some great back roads round there
