Just had some Redline Oil Delivered....
Hi all,
I just got some redline engine and diff oil delivered to do me for my 2006 services on my beloved S. The redline oil company said the following:
"I have sent 2 quarts of regular 75w90 and 2 quarts of 75w90NS - they should be used in equal parts in the diff. This gives exactly the same internal friction for the diff as the Heavy ShockProof, which was all the rage one time but seems to have now been understood to be the wrong oil...its not....it's perfect for the diff."
Have any of you heard this? I thought that the Shockproof was proved to be hard on street used differentials. Any experience/advise appreciated.
Thanks,
Adrian

I'm considering getting it replaced though following advice from this forum. It's a confusing issue isn't it.
The one thing I wouldn't do is mix the oils up. If you want Heavy Shock oil, buy some Heavy Shock oil.
The bottom line is if you come to make a claim on your diff and you don't have the specified oil in it then you wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Its all the same viscosity so I wouldnt worry if thats what they have advised you to do.
I would want to know why they have sent you 2 different ones 1st though. If you're not happy ask them to collect it and send you what you asked for.

I have Redline Heavy Shockproof in my diff. It's got an ATS Carbon LSD and Richmond final gear and pinion.
Redline USA's opinion is that if your diff sees hard driving quite often, it would be better off with the Heavy Shockproof.
However, if your diff is standard with the Tor-Sen LSD, then you should only put 75w90 into the rear.
