Default Quick Alpine Speaker Question

Hi all,

I've nabbed myself a set of those Alpine SPR 17S speakers for the front and was just wondering what I need (i.e. spacers, modifying car) in order to get them to fit in my 2007 car?

They also come with an additional box (I'm guessing it's a X-over) and wanted to know the best place to fit this in the door?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

G'day Dan,

When you take your door panel off you will see a large polystying, at the end of the door, you can cut a recess into it, and put the cross over in that on each door.

Spacers you can make your self or buy them from an audio shop and cut them to size.

I would recommend a little sound proofing in there also

Hey Dan, I have those speakers and they sound

You'll def need spacers, I just made my own with some spare MDF and a jigsaw...like this!

I had my cross-overs where Kiwi suggests, but moved to the tool well with my amp for easier adjustment.

Those Speaker adapters at Halfords, are they S2000 specific ones? Reason I ask is because they couldn't find any in their ordering system.

Thanks in advance

Dan

I'll keep my eye on this one too tflpunk, I'm embarking on the same speaker-upgrade mission as yourself...

Ideally I want to get a new HU and door speakers bought and fitted by Friday, as I've got a long trip round the country to do and I can't bear the thought of it with the OEM speakers... I was under the impression you have to either make the spacers or buy them from America... Which seems ridiculous seeing as they're just a piece of MDF... If I can buy them locally I will, so that I don't have to hire a jigsaw, but needs must, gotta have sound...

Which reminds me, can anyone recommend a decent car audio shop in or around Northampton, I went looking for two little independent ones on Saturday, but couldn't find either.... Damn industrial estates.

Any ideas anyone?

Hello mate,

I can't seem to find the spacers through Halfords so I'm probably going to attempt the MDF method. What thickness MDF did you go for? The yanks on the link used 3/4 inch, which is approximately 20mm, but I'm sure I read on here that you only need 10mm spacers?

Any idea?

Thanks,
Dan
