Default rear spoiler

I have in the past considered getting a rear lid spoiler (high or low, though probably low) but I wonder, does the extra down-force become noticeable on the road or, as I suspect, is this just for show? Not that I have a problem with the latter, of course.

if you spend decent money on a gt carbon wi ng then it will improve downforce and definately be noticable,

the factory optional extra OEM high level spoiler produces minimal downforce but is mainly for show.

BIG carbon gt wing is the way to go

You wont get any downforce, merely kill some lift

Anything less than 60" and on risers wont do anything usefull>

Unless you go with a GT rear spoiler or a CR/Type-S version, you won't get any down force. If you've ever seen the Best Motoring video of the stock S vs the Type-S, you can noticeably tell the difference in the down force @ high speed cornering. I definitely can feel the down force of the CR rear spoiler on the track(especially with the top off).

Not conclusive so far. I am not sure that the weight of a spoiler would have much of an impact on straight line performance on UK roads as pure speed is restricted by legislation anyway. I was hoping that comments would be more along the lines of 'cornering being noticeably improved and therefore worth the cost'. I am not sure the car is worth spending serious money on it for a more hi-tech variant.

jury still out I think, for me anyway.
