Many pre-02's won't have the feature as the relay is missing/optional "extra" (so stop trying!! )

Mine MY03 works most the time:
Unlock, when lights stop flashing, unlock and boot pops.
If it it doesn't. Lock again, then follow the above and it will work.

It can get out of "sequence" (not sure how) so sometimes stops working. I think it's time related, or how often the car is opened/closed/driven/sometimes you use the boot, sometimes not. However the above I wrote works ALL the time if it doesn't open first time.

Someone must know where the relay is housed/type etc!

I want this feature. I have bumper plugs and it's a pain in the arse taking them out, so I have to lean in the car everytime I want to open it

I think the relay is in the under dash fuse/relay area.

Which "gap" it is I couldn't say. My 1st S didn't have it and I think the relay was £40/£80 IIRC (I really can't remember, maybe search through some of my old posts from 6 years ago......I remember posting about it then).

My Dealer didn't even know that it can be be done untill i showed them as mine also come with the late spec remote fob just to pop the boot! when i showed them that you can do it with the original remote they were surprised and openly admitted they didn't know that you could do that!

I guess its nice to know that you can still educate some dealerships!

No it isn't!!

Remote on mine will not open the boot no matter what I do.

I find it a bit odd that the car has to be unlocked first, though. I had remote boot opening on my 3 series from a third button - I thought the idea behind it is that as one approachs ones car in a car park, there is no danger of undesirables jumping into the vehicle whilst you're faffing around in the boot.

A female friend of mine filled her car at a BP station in Boston (Lincs) late on a friday night, when she went up to the pay point, the clerk said not to look back at the car, and that he was going to open the shop door.

5 mins later the police arrived and hauled a bloke out of the back seat with a 12" knife.

Boston. S'nice.
