I agree with you, but the reason I'm fitting a 4.77 final drive is because I find the car too fast for public roads. If I redline the car in 2nd and 3rd, by the time I change up to 4th I'm already approaching 100 mph
I hope you don't do many motorway miles - that 4.77 will become a little tiresome on long trips (speaking as a former 4.625 FD owner). One respected S2000 elder previously commented that a 4.77 would simply be the same as driving in a lower gear i.e. just sit in 3rd rather than 4th. Obviously that's not the complete story (closer ratios) but I would only recommend an FD change for an S2000 which will be used on track days or which does very little motorway mileage

Do the same with an SC and you'd be at 100mph in 3rd gear
ESeM, I've read your impressive list of mods - yours isn't a simple bolt on SC
Honestly, the SC I drove was the fastest car I've ever driven and the noise.... :suprised: but I can't help thinking that unless you have ESeM's supporting mods the turbo would offer a better driving experience.
I have the Rotrex and an oil cooler and i dont agree with your comments, it may be the car you tested had a different set up but i get roughly the same power i had at 9k at 6k now i dont need to change gear so much in "normal" driving, its all usefull I dont go around driving at stupid speeds i just get to the speed i was aiming at faster
the Rotrex does have a turbine rather than an impellor so its more like a belt driven turbo than a conventional SC, they are all basicaly fans at the end of the day and as such have a delivery band where they flow the best too slow or fast and the airflow drops off
But the car is designed to be revved into VTEC?? Power and torque below that aren't so relevant imo, as the gearing of the car means that when you redline it and change gear, you are in VTEC again.
The SC motor was mine with a Comptech / CT engineering SC with standard gear ratios. Basically I think PD's experience of SC is slightly skewed here as all the other FI options offer better power curves with more of every thing from alot lower in the rev range. Unfortunately the power curve is the CTSC bigest weakness - but as you can see it will pull very violently from 7k.
If you compare eSEM's to mine, mine has the pub figure and his has much better numbers for 90% of the power curve and importantly in the lower and mid range areas..
