I was fitting new discs yesterday to my beater and I managed to snap the wear sensor plug, the one attached to the car

never mind - we managed without brake pad wear sensors for decades - just tape it up or short it to earth if it is permanently on - you'll know the pads need doing when the brakes squeal (what? - he said it was his beater ?
Lucky it wasn't the ABS sensor wire - now they check the lights work on the MOT you can't get around that one as easily...

can you screw a threaded bolt in the existing area,lock it with 2x or 3x nuts and undo

Thanks all for the advice and help. For the record, I had to get these taken off by a welder today as they were totally mullered after hitting, drilling, kicking, hammering, breaking drills, chipping alloys,reverse screwing, etc. and still no movement.

Even with the welding they took a few attempts of heating and cooling before movement. It seems they were really tight and had started bonding/corroding to the alloys themselves. Never again will I use these things!
