Common sense says I should sell mine (not fuelled it up since July), and I probably would if I thought I'd get more than a half-eaten Mars Bar and a packet of beef Hula Hoops for it.

A car is only worth what a buyer will pay, and in these market conditions that's not very much. Even if your car is in good condition, making you think its worth more, asking a higher price will mean you won't attract any potential buyers to even look at it.
