I stuffed a big bit into mine and then smoothed it off with a very sharp scalpel then taped over the top and underneath to protect it .

You can feel the tape through the leather on mine if you try, and the bolster feels much stronger. There is no visual clue to the repair or strengthening though, and for the ease of job and time it takes it is defintiely worth doing.

Guys, I have a nasty tear in the passanger seat, possible to buy the "skin" anywhere to a nice price? Really want to fix it and do this sponge repair as well.

Thanks for this great idea!

I was lucky enough to find a seat on ebay, but it was the opposite seat to which i needed, so I swapped the bases over, and then peeled back the backrest cover using the same similar approach as shown above to move onto the side I needed. The only thing is it now has 2 small round holes from where the seatbelt locator was. small price to pay though.

Alternatively, If you look on the US forum there is a company that ship out to the UK new covers in the colours/stitching you want. try a search for "gotuning clazzio seat covers"

So the service manuals that are on the internet are not complete and do not have the process for removing the leather from the seat. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to remove the leather from the seat to replace the seat leather?

Where did you get replacement leather? Most of it is just hog rings as per post 1, not sure about the top outer half though...

eBay, someone was selling their entire seat cover for $150 US. I was able to replace it. The hog rings were not fun to take off. I replaced them all with zip ties.
