There is another way to check piston ring without leak down tester.
Warm up the car first, then use the normal compression test do one test on all 4 cylinder, then get some thin engine oil put a few drip into the cylinder, crank it without plugs for a few time make sure the oil can seal up the wall and do the compression test again, if the reading is much higher that's mean your piston ring is gone. normally the reading is 5psi ish higher depends on how much oil you put into the cylinder, few small drip into it will do.
After tested make sure you start the car straight away to burn all the oil out from the cylinder.
If you have a proper leakdown tester and compressor then would be much easier and can spot where is the leak straight away.

The fresh oil seems to have made a huge difference although i've only done a few short journeys in the car recently.
