You can remove it without removing the engine Rob.

Andy Vey has done mine twice on my old S, give him a call.

Or, a 2 second search for "sump removal" revealed the following...

Remember to clear debris from the gasket/bond fitting face when putting it back on, and torque bolts in an opposing sequence as directed in the service manual, yes there are a lot lol!

If you struggle to get it shifted, make sure you've got all the bolts, i was struggling to see how mine would come off, then realised i'd missed one bolt and it just came off pretty much once the last one was out (muppet!)

Take the sump off,

You'll see the baffle plate, under that is the oil bump assembly/lower block.

The oil pump is run by chain from the crank sprocket, I think you might need to take the chain case off to remove the chain if you want to remove this?

You'll be able to see the con rod caps through the lower block although cylinder 1 & 2 will probably be obstructed by the oil pump.

EDIT, I checked the service manual out of interest:

Get the service manual : http://www.spoonertuner.com/media/download...03_AP1_USDM.zip

pages 8-3 for the exploded sump/oil pump diagram.

8-9 shows you the removal of the oil pump.
