Just to resurrect this one after a winter of salt!

Mine's in bits whilst I fit the coilovers so I will have these bolts out and let you know what state they are in on a 22K mile 04 car

Thanks for the bump, not seen this level of detail before. One question to anyone: any advice on the specification of grease to start to use to initiate a prevention:

Prevention; If your car is relatively new then I would suggest greasing these areas to hopefully cut down the moisture from entering

The grease is not doing any work so the heavier the better. something like Marfax
(old style lithium based grease for lorry springs, trunions etc) would be good. It needs to stick around a long time. Light "white" greases will not do the job as the salt will break them down and then they will wash out.

No age related comments please

Sorry to Hijack the thread but this is related.

I thought somebody on here last year was looking into polybushes? A set of these, if available could be fitted to the suspension arms without having to buy new arms etc and should be cheaper. Anybody remember this or am I going senile?

If I am going senile should we be looking into polybushes?

Grease

Well EP2 or EP3 Moly grease has been mentioned.

I'm thinking I'll use copper grease - if it works on brake pads it ought to be good on seizing bolts Helfrauds do it as an aerosol as well!

I'm going to smear EP2 over the ends of the bolts once they are reinstalled and the geo is done.

Pie N Chips has just installed some and will be at the Northern Alignement meet on 01/04/06 with them. There was some discussion about whether they would have the same properties as the Honda ones and if they didn't how would that affect suspension performance
