a car that handles and steers better than the s
That certainly isnt my experience of them , great little car but they are not in the league of the S with regards to handling imho.

I would have thought 200bhp would tie that car in knots

I am one of the group Moggy is reffering to!
Having drive an few pre 04's and 04's in the last few weeks I do much prefer the 04 interior look and material quality, I also found the power delivery and handling smoother. Honda do seem to have moved it on and refined it as Scov points out.

I was going to buy the lastest 03 I could find as I prefer that exterior but they are not a lot less than an 04. I am not a fan of the 04 exterior styling (yet? )
I the S it is a fantastic package for the money. Mine (MY00) is showing its age it is now 5 years and 1 month old, so I whilst I have some "spare" cash I'm going to trade up. If I can get a low mile 04 or new 05 for the low

There was a SC MX5 on a joint Mazda/S2000 jockmeet once - he was keeping up on damp roads, but only just I think. IN the dry, he reckoned he'd struggle. His SC wasn't running quite at full chat though IIRC.

I changed my S because I did 35 k miles in less than 3 years, and had lots of niggling little problems, and although all sorted now, would have cost

I can't change as I can't afford it, I think this is why most people haven't . I do know a member on this board with an 04 who is going to be buying an 02 in the summer though. !!!!! (for financial reasons)

Neil, what other reason would there be? If you can afford it you may as well upgrade.

Seems silly to buy a new car just because it has different bumpers and lights when my current car has only just done 20,000 miles. When I change it will be for something different.
