Joe,

You just don't get it, do you? The personal attacks are not gaining you any friends or swaying anyone to support your point of view. Actually, it is having the opposite effect. You are beginning to look like an arrogant ass. Kill this thread before it kills you.

..... Kill this thread ....

I have organized my share of events. Some even bigger and more complex than Fall Colors. I can attest to the fact that it takes a great deal of effort, sacrifice and cooperation from many people to have a successful event. I can also attest to the fact that there will always be people who are dissatisfied with the results, some even before the event has taken place. That's life. You can't please everybody.
One of the things that I always did for any event was to be totally open about the goals of the event and the financing and expenditures. If there were going to be complaints then I wanted them to be on content not backend stuff and I wanted to ensure that my motives and actions could not be impugned by anyone. It's hard enough to put on a decent event without bad press and feelings.

All of that being said:

I thoroughly enjoyed the Fresh Water Tour and would like to participate again if one is held. Joe and Brian, with help and support from many others in our community, did a very good job. Were there problems? Yes. Did they detract from my overall enjoyment of the tour? No. Could things have been done better? Yes.
The problems experienced were pretty mild for a first time event with (and don't get huffy anyone ) relatively inexperienced people planning it. I think that constructive criticism would be a little more helpful than infighting and recriminations. This thread has become nothing more than a mess of people trying to have the last word. Screw that. FWT was what it was. If you have bad feelings about it, fine. You may be justified in your opinions. I don't know. But I think that arguing over the backend details of the event which should have been open and aboveboard from the beginning is pointless. If you have a bad taste in your mouth over this then don't participate in the future. What someone did or didn't take out of the event is moot. Done. Over. History. The important thing that I took away from FWT was a good time with the opportunity to meet many fine people (and a new set of brakes courtesy of King Motorsports ) I offered any small assistance the I could provide in the planning and preperation of a similar event next year. That offer still stands. These things are fun and shouldn't be marred by the appearance of impropriety. I don't have any dogs in this fight. I have met and respect all of the participants and hope that you can resolve your differences offline and come to at least a mutual understanding.

Peace.

Joe and Charlie, you guys are both valued friends of mine and I'm asking you guys to end this sparring! A simple disagreement is turning personal. Those of us on the outside of this argument can see and relate to both of your points of view. I can understand completely where both of you guys are coming from on the issue! Suffice to say a lot of people were not happy about the way some things were handled. It was the first Fwt! Problems, disagreements and mistakes were bound to happen! Everyone just needs to learn from the experience and use it to make the next FWT better off for it, not to get into a flame wars. I want to be able to see how much trouble that I can get into at the next FWT!
