i just top it off in the meanwhile.

FYI an oil change can be done with the car on the ground.

I do my own oil changes with M1. I have been using M1 in all of my cars for at least the past 20 years. I must have more than a million happy miles without issue.

The only thing I hate about the process is getting rid of the old oil.

funnel it back into a milk jug and take it to any major auto parts store/gas station/car dealership (service dept)/auto or truck repair shop.

all places should have a waste oil tank.

yes, even if you're purple fuzzy dinosuar sized.
only time you have to get close to the ground is to pull out the drop pan.

basically after you remove the oil filter you can reach down there and get the wrench onto the drain plug from top.
it's not easy for those with butterfingers but it's do-able.

Yeah, I changed mine on the ground back home with Mobil 1 IIRC. I need to do it again, and this time I think I'll try the Castrol GTX.

Yep, you can just go to Jiffy Lube, Midas, etc. -- they legally have to take the oil waste.

They do HAVE to take it, but some places DO charge to take it. Some don't. I've found most parts stores that recycle oil are more likely to take the oil for free. Most "quick-lube" places want to charge for the oil.

I usually put used brake fluid in the same container as the used oil when returning it.
