Thoughts for IMPROVING the community

The main forum Racing/AutoX are dominated by larger cliques, mostly based out of California and because I'm still considered "new" to s2ki, I feel somewhat alienated dealing with members who I have never met. It's much easier for me to engage dialog with members who are familiar with the local track. Another section I've gotten weak feedback from is Naturally Aspirated, and recently the Photography section.
As far as photography forum goes, I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to feedback. I have posted comments, questions in the past and have gotten lukewarm responses... They are also extremely critical and almost to the point of rude... They are, however, passionate and post up good critique...you just need to be able to handle it..
If you have any instances where you don't feel like you are getting an adequate response, bump your thread and see if anyone can chime in.
Good points btw
PS... You aren't "considered" new.. you ARE new
(I'm kidding btw)

It's not good enough for you when a CO picks a direction and now it's not good enough when a couple of members pick a direction with a suggestion.
I don't care if people categorize a meet that I post as either official or unofficial, just as long as they have a good time.
I suggested adding the official/unofficial meets to differentiate between a small Thursday night gathering in Chicago to say, the annual WTD event that requires more coordination between members from a much larger geographical region. It's also based on the premise that we have metro sub-forum section. I imagine part of the problem associated with this in the past stemmed from bad clarity between what members perceived as Official & Unofficial and some bickering that happened afterwards? If no such differentiation is needed, or if this causes more problems than solutions, then scratch it and move on.
My intent on participating in this topic is to suggest "new" ideas and persepective from someone who is still new and unaffected by previous history on s2ki. I'm not sure what has or hasn't been done before, so pardon me if I'm spinning the wheel.

Any meet that is organized on this forum is an official meet, no matter who starts/organizes it.
Yeah, like there is a Michigan Cars and Coffee meet posted about here, but that's not an S2000 event, just an event that I am attending and maybe a few other S2000 owners; so, in that sense, it really is "unofficial" but the posting is still of use and value to the community, and similar postings should definitely continue to occur. Similar "outsiders" so to speak (i.e, BMW owners, etc.), should feel welcome here.
zOMG everyone... why SO serious!!!!?!?!
Here let's just officiate things the right way...

It's like we're all designing some fancy filing cabinet, but have absolutely no files to put in it.
BRILLIANT!!!!!

Exactly Sam, but with that I think just a VERY basic set of rules to prevent @sshatary... I think its been an unwritten rule that any other forum that starts a thread here to invite guests are welcome however not an official meet (not that ppl don't attend other meets)
Last year, there were quite a few other forums advertising their meets within our community, at the time, we the CO's (Pete, Urmil, Charlie and I) discussed the issue. It was decided that those would not be added to the UMW event calendar as "official" UMW events. I believe we still hold true to this, though we don't want to discourage other forums trying to get their own forum better known, if the meet isn't S2000 focused, we didn't want to promote their meet over one of our own.
I like the idea of people attending other meets, we are all car enthusiasts, but we do need to keep the main focus on the S2000.
