fair enough jeggy. I do have to ask though, why do you bother to put them back in place once you've changed the rotors?

The only purpose they serve is to keep the rotors in place in the assembly line during the manufacturing process.

I emailed the organizers about the schedule for the weekend. In their reply they said the schedule would be posted to the website today.

Harry likes to replace them to make it JUST a little faster to change pads at the track. If I am removing the caliper, I put two lug nuts back on and hand tighten them down to the rotor, that holds the rotor in place while I change the pads.

Those rotor screws are the worst invention EVER!

I guess I just figured this was not the first time your rotors were changed on your car.

I'll ask Pat what plan B is, it sounds like a good story ("this is gonna take a whole lot of swearing!").

For me I learned (a long time ago) that a flat-head screwdriver IS NOT a substitute for a chisel.

63K miles and this WAS the first rotor change on the car.

you can also run one screw in by hand to hold the rotor in plce and remove it when the wheel is ready to go back on.

On the AP1 I kept the screws in (after Pete torched them out for me). But I used a ton of anti-seize and didn't really tighten them. Just in enough to hold the rotors in place. Made pads changes a hair easier. Left them out on this car.

Back on topic -
I'm probably going to head out to the burbs tomorrow to drop off the race tires my friend said he would carry for me. Fitting 4 tires in an s2000 and driving 2 hours isn't that fun. I'm also going to make sure he packs the canopy and possibly a small TV so I can watch F1 on sunday.
