I can see areas in my lap where there's a ton more time left out there. Really what I need to work on is consistency rather than the ultimate lap. I feel I have more to gain in getting my lap to lap variances down.

Who knows if more time could be found with another day. I can see the time, but executing well enough to get it is the hard part.

Here's how I would critique my own lap:

Turn 1 – Brake way later and harder, can carry a little more speed on entry.
Turn 2, 3 & 4 – I wouldn’t make any significant changes
Turn 5 – Brake less hard on entry, carry trailing brake further through turn
Turn 6 – Get on the gas harder after turn in
Turn 7 – Carry more speed through.
Turn 8 – I like this turn. Although maybe turning in a touch too early
Turn 9 – Wider line to use the whole track
Turn 10 – Get on the gas sooner.
Turn 11 – Carry a tiny bit more speed.

dang, was i the only one who didnt burn oil in that turn?? must be my wicked sick JDM PCV valve i guess.

the second day was by far the better day in terms on times and consistancy throughout the course for me.

the first day i just kept coming in to turn 11 way to hot and as a result i got a bit dirty

I was a great time and awesome seeing so many familiar faces.

So the S2000 time to beat is in the low 1:50's? Can't wait to get out there!

Ha!! I wouldn't consider anything I do as being a benchmark.

Like it or not, you're the baseline! Comparing my data to yours:

Turn 1: I carry about 48 mph. I thought I could carry more speed, and it seems I was right. You carry about 53 mph.

Turn 2: I carry about 45 mph, you carry about 50 mph. So overall it seems that I can use more of the track through 1 and 2 to carry more speed.

We both peaked about 85 mph between 2 & 3.

Turn 3: Identical speeds

Between 3 & 5 we are pretty even

Turn 6: I carry about 48 mph, you carry about 55 mph. Again, I think I can use more of the track on exit to carry more speed. I hear you on braking less in 5 and trail braking more into 6. That is still some pretty scary stuff to me though. I'm working my way into it.

Between 6 and 7 I peaked at 80 mph, you peaked about 75. But you were way out of the powerband on the exit of 6. So this comparison isn't very valid.

Turn 7: I carry 54 mph, you about 45. You accelerate back up to speed pretty quickly.

At the transition between 8 & 9 you have picked up some speed again. I'm doing 68, you're doing 70. You accelerate through 9 much more aggressively than I do. That new patch of asphalt and the elevation change really gets the suspension moving around. I didn't have the guts for it. I went for it a few times. At one point after the new asphalt patch it felt like the car was going to drift of the track for a few moments. It does come back, but I didn't like the feeling.

Turn 10: We both initiate the turn about 50 mph. However, I drop to 45 for about a second, then accelerate all the way out. You seem to hold 48 mph for a longer period of time before accelerating out.

Despite the differences in turn 10, we both peak at 103 on the straight.

Turn 11: I carry 51 mph, you carry 48mph.

It would be cool to see our videos split screen. As I said earlier, thanks for posting. It gives me something to learn from.

Wow, nice analysis Mitmak.

Since we are turning this thread into the gingerman lap analysis thread I'll throw this screenshot up there.

Looking at the accel/braking G-forces graph you can see I can brake later and harder going into turns 1, 3, 10, and 11. On this lap (same lap as in the video) I'm double dipping the brakes. That's something I need to stop doing.

edit: it actually looks like I triple-dipped going into 10.

I do think my friction circle plot does look quite pretty however.

woah...lots of analysis.

I got there a little late after eating lunch in this video. So my session was almost over. I was only able to go out for my warm up lap. So...yes, I'm going slow on purpose lol.

I think I might have dipped into the 1:40s (like 149:xx to 1:51.xxx) as a "fastest" lap. I was doing 1:55 with traffic. But...this is stop watch and video measuring methods lol. I could be completely off.
