275/40 fit 17x8 ?

Default 275/40 fit 17x8 ?

Im looking to get drag radials. I have 17x8 WORk emotions on the rear. Will 275/40/17 fit? Will i have to raise the rear of my car? Any help would be appreciated! Thxs!

The tire manufacturer is going to have a measured rim width (ideal) and an approved minimum and maximum rim width for each size tire they sell. They are fairly conservative (due to liability issues), but I definitely wouldn't go more than 1/2 inch larger/smaller that the approved widths. IIRC the minimum rim width for a Bridgestone RE050A PP (just as an example) in 255/40/17 is 8.5"

Thxs! i took my rim off to check the size. I have 17x8's so i went with 245/45/17 Nitto 555r's

fyi just bought a set of rims 17x8 for the rear with 275/40/17 mounted on em already. Put em on my stock height ap1 and ther's no problem with the fittment. The tire is a yoka... avs. Not sure im going to keep the tires, they are prob too big for the rim but they sure do look mean... would a tire shop ever say no to putting a tire that big on?
