AP1 with 215 front and 255 rear? (AP2 wheels)

I picked up a set of AP2v1's and am trying to figure out what to do.
They have a pair of Hankook V12's on the front with ~50% tread.
I am leaning towards only replacing the rears, since I know I will go through rear tires to front tires at a roughly 2 to 1 ratio anyways.
Now my 2 question/dilemma:
1. I am considering picking up a 255/40 rear. The front is the stock 215/45 size. I have seen a few people do this, particularly on AP1's to help with the oversteer, but have not heard much feedback on the setup. Opinions/experiences? The alternative is going with the standard 245/40 rear.
2. I want to pick up Sumitomo HTR ziii for the rear instead of V12's. I've never mixed tires before, but from all iv'e read, it seems like this will be a safe move. The tires are very comparable. I'm planning to switch over to the Sumi's all around once I wear out this set, so I would like to try them out here if possible. Anyone have any strong advice/rationale for going with a matching V12 instead? The general consensus I find is the the V12 is a slightly inferior tire for a higher price.

I ran that size combo on my AP1 with no problem. I'm not a fan of mixing tire brands. I'm also not a fan of the Sumitomos. I had a set. I guess they are OK for a bargain price daily tire, but they were horrible for the couple of times I autocrossed on them.
If it were me, I'd get the newest hankook evo (V12 evo 2?) and go 255/40/17 in the rear then. And later you can switch over to 225/45/17 in the front.
Also not a fan of the sumimotos, they are a bargain tire it appears and nothing more. And imo the evo's are a better bargain tire as they likely perform better.
I didn't realize the evo's are expensive, well in that case why not upgrade to a superior tire to both the Evo and Sumimoto, but still budget friendly, like the Bridgestone Potenza S-04 (Brigestones often run with a ~$70 rebate).
Imo if doing that just replace all 4's. If you're on a budget just stick to the 215/40/17 and 245/40/17 size if it saves you another $10-$20+ per tire, the greater performance benefit will be getting stickier rubber and the upgrade in size from a 245/40/17 to a 255/40/17 is not going to be all that noticeable.
In the max performance category, these are the two different tires you want imo. If priced the same, I'd go for the super sports. But if the S-04's are $100 or more cheaper after rebates and all, go for those.

So it depends how much closer to understeer you want to go, if you should up the rear tires to 255, or stay stock ap2 with 245. Me, I'd stay 245 now, and see how they feel.
That would mesh well with what I'd suggest for tire brand. I'd match the rears to front, and plan on replacing all 4 with something more worthy of the car once they wear out. Like the S04 or Pilot Sports that were mentioned (assuming that is the category of tire you want to stick with, which would be an ideal choice if this car is used for some DD duty).
This way, you get to evaluate the rear tire size, balance wise, on a matched set of tires. While the limits will he higher once you switch to better tires, the balance should be roughly the same (if you stick to the same tire sizes). So you can decide if stock size is correct balance, or if you still want more understeer.

I put an AP2 rear sway bar on my 01 AP1 to help with the snap oversteer and now it works great like it should have always. Rear end still comes out, but you can feel it and control it. If you were to do that with AP2 rims your car would be super neutral with a tendency for understeer depending on alignment settings.

I had this option when I got ap2 wheels for my ap1. I decided to go with 215/245 mainly to keep weight down. That said with my near stock ap1, I get a decent amount of front push. I would not go 255, especially if you are using older front tires. It will be snowplow city. It's not fun
