Default AP2 replacement tires

Jim,

I want to replace my RE050s with either Michelin Pilot PS2s or Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s.

I am an aggressive road driver and do not currently track my car. I would like tires that still handle well on the road in the wet and dry Similar or better than the RE50s, but last longer. I also do not want a noisier tire. I have stock '04 wheels.

I have looked at your site and the PS2s are not shown as available in the 215/45 size needed for the front. The site suggests Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2s due to that sizing issue. I have never heard of this model tire.

Can I get some advise on which way to go on this?

Thanks

dont know how the falkens would be in the rain. I dont have experience with them, but that tread pattern doesnt look wet road friendly.

I drove the PS2 on the track in wet and dry are they were excellent. Keep in mind that nothing is going to last a long time on the rear of the S2K. I think you will find the PS2 is a little stiffer sidewall than the GSD3 and thus will give you quicker turn in response.
If I can help let me know.

Jim,

The PS2s aren't available in the 215/45 17 size. What sizes do you suggest for stock AP2 Rims?

Steve

You'd have to go with the 225 / 255 combo. The PS2's are a terrific tire wet and dry and they last a long time too. I just replaced my tires with the RE050's because I wanted to maintain the same stagger. With the PS2's in the 225/255, stagger should be about an inch and a quarter; about half what you get with the REO50's. The RE050's are a great tire too, btw.
