You meant that, but you never wrote it.

I don't know what to make of this statement.
Funny, because I thought we were talking about emergency situations, not reckless driving on the street. While reckless driving can and most likely will lead to an emergency situation, it's not something a sensible driver will have to experience. This is what happens when you don't read what the previous posts are about prior to jumping in a discussion. Don't act like I'm the one being ignorant here.

Anyways, I feel like this is a pointless argument. Go ahead and run your narrower tires if you so firmly believe it will restrain yourself from driving like an idiot. Fortunately I don't think I need that type of restriction to drive in a civilized manner on the street.

For what it's worth, I wasn't the one who brought up the whole topic of overconfident drivers, that was you. I was only referring to possible emergency situations on a daily basis, such as having to swerve to avoid a car/person. Now tell me, why would LESS grip equal more safety? If you're saying more grip is detrimental, that's like saying you'd rather run bald tires than good ones.

I'm done here.

Even in the case of an overconfident driver, it's like saying you'd rather give him bald tires than new ones.
Ha ha! A great idea. Bald tires is something every S2Ker should experience at least once. A great learning opportunity.

I'm done harping. I'll see if I can get a pic of the Specs on AP2 wheels, I know I'll see one this weekend.

this isn't a star spec, but it's generally speaking what a 255/45 will look like on an AP2 wheel. my current star specs look basically the same

Welcome to the club of experienced S2Kers, I'm sure you are a much better driver from that experience. We've been expecting you

I stopped reading what you had to say when you said the first thing you do after getting new tires is take them to the parking lot next door to see what they could do. Ever heard of mold release? Oh wait, you get your tires shaved? Got it. But do you let them sit for at least 24 hrs after their first heat cycle?

I get the fact that as tires limits go up, vehicle speeds CAN go up as well too. But what about the people that put wider tires on and go the same speed? Are they not safer then? Same speed, more traction = more safety. You could argue that you on your stock size tires going the same speed as them are being less safe than they are.

I learned how to drive my car on crap, balding tires, and slowly with each set get tires that were capable of higher and higher limits. Did I ever feel that the tires were faster than I was? No.

I respect your opinion, but I believe that the "wider tires are more dangerous because they have too much grip" line is crap.

Man I remember I had to do slight counter steer to go straight. Thinking back at it, man I was scared out of my mind. Bad looking after I went through it. It was pretty funny. Man I thought I knew what floating was but after that I knew nothing.
