My 18" set of Specs are about half done with just under two years of use. They've had a few spirited back road runs on them, and two trips to the Dragon, but not much daily use (S2K is daily in summer). The fronts are half done and the rears are only a quarter worn. So far its worn perfectly even. They provide enough grip to trouble my friend's GTR in the corners. I'm extremely satisifed with their responsiveness on 40 series sidewall and amazing performance in rain.

My rear Specs are completely bald. I've never noticed any noise out of the Specs at any time.

If you have any sort of aftermarket intake or exhaust system, I would imagine that will drown out any tire noise you might get. Sure, silent tires would be best, but even "loud" tires aren't that loud relative to the other sounds we have to put up with on this car.

I noticed that the Star Specs were louder than the OEM Bridgestones when traveling highways speeds on concrete. Still worth it in my opinion and now that I have an Invidia exhaust it makes no difference at all.

As far as my thoughts on the Star Specs overall, I love them. For the money I don't think you can get a better performing tire. At the track they grip amazingly well and handle 20 minute track sessions without overheating. Their wear has also impressed me; I currently have about 12,000 miles on my set after a year's worth of driving and attending 2 2 day track events. I definitely think these tires will last through another 2 day track event and hit 20,000 miles before needing to be replaced (possibly go longer than that).

BTW my car's stock and the size I have is 225/255.
