[QUOTE=AaronCompNetSys,Sep 23 2010, 09:15 AM] Its more the feeling of the roll, the give in the sidewall that he is talking about.

Yeah, cold at 40-42 front AP1 wheels. I plan to switch to something stiffer up front like RE92 or S02 and keep the Specs on rear. I run the bald S02s on track (posted above) and not the Specs, being a cheapskate

Considering these are performance tires, I have no fear of them popping.

The Tire Rack raised the prices of the Oem Ap2 sizes by roughly $14. I write the things I want to do to my car in my notebook. Well a few months a go I priced the Star Specs. The fronts went for $118 and the rears retailed for $147. I'm thinking, not too bad. Then I look a week ago and the rears went up to $161 each and the fronts were around $132 ish each. I guess all that praise had Dunlop thinking of the ol' supply and demand.

Just ordered a set 215/265s for my recently purchased SSR Type-C RS's. 17x7.5 17x9! Can't wait!

I'm thinking about Star Specs, 225/45, 255/40, but I see the the 215/45,245/40 combo saves a few bucks. I was wondering if anybody has an opinion about the performance difference, if any, I would notice between the two options? I have gotten about 12k miles on two sets of Bridgestones, street driving only.

My opinion on wider tires are that my 205/225 Specs (S2K) wide ones give me so much grip its getting dangerous for street driving. I find my corner speed with my 225/225 Specs (WRX) set to be enough that I have to restrain myself some times.

I'm a firm believer in that you should not be getting wider tires than you are comfortable sliding in emergency scenarios. Of course, you may be more comfortable than I. If you are petrified of all 4 tires sliding and therefore don't know how to handle it, your tires are way too wide and therefore you are above your safety threshold.

My 2 cents

The additional 10mm per tire will give you a larger contact patch which equals more grip. Will anyone feel the difference between those two sets? I doubt it, unless you put g sensors in the car and they tell you there is a difference. You can't go wrong with either set.
