Good tires for about $5-600?
Im buying some new rims soon and going from 18's to 17's. I currently have Hankook V12 evos and the ride is great. So I am looking for tires shipped to an APO AP that would cost me between 500 and 600. Some of the tires Ive checked out are...
Goodyear Eagle GT
Goodyear Eagle F1 Allseason
Hankook V12 K110
Yokohamas S.drive
What do you guys recommend? Thanks

The tires you're looking at are in entirely different performance categories:
Goodyear Eagle GT and F1 AllSeason are UltraHigh Performance all-season tires
Hankook V12 K110 is a Max Performance Summer tire
Yoko S.Drive is an Ultra High Performance Summer tire
What do you want/NEED from tires?
Max wet/dry warm-weather grip?
some snow/ice capability?
Longer life?
It is very very important to get the best tires from the *appropriate performance category*!
I would also recommend a different size combination. 225/45-17 fronts with 245/40-17 rears gives a "beefy-fronts/scrawny-rears" look.
IMHO
I'd go with either 215/45 f, 245/40 r
or 215/45 f, 255/40 r
or 225/45 f, 255/40 r
Anyway, clickie on the Tire Rack banner above and you'll find TONS of info on those tires and many more.

I see all the seasons here in Korea but do not have the space for seasonal wheels. Im used to driving crappy summer tires (Nexen 3000s) on ice/snow and also good tires on snow/ice (Hankook V12 Evos). I just need something that will last a while and provide good grip and quite, maybe similar to the V12 evos. I do not need any crazy performance/race/track tires. The tire shop here told me that the v12 k110s are different than the evos, so I really dont know the difference.
As for tire sizes, I dont want them to rub. Thats the problem im getting now which is why Im buying new wheels, smaller and lighter as an extra benefit (cheaper tires too). I was thinking 225 45 or 215 45 fronts with 245 40 rears. I dont want to risk it with 255's

i run 225 front and 255 toyo T1r on 18in volk GTn and i have no rubbing at all on stock ofsets. You have an AP1 like me and the original sizes are tiny compared to what the AP2 came with.
I guess people need to know more about your car? is it lowered slammed stock ect. also the new rims, what are the specs 17x7.7 8 8.8 offset ect. Rubbing has to do with those specs not just the tires.
As for tires i am looking the Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport. They seem to give a good amount of grip and also have a fair amount of treadwear rating.
Actually i was hoping Jim had some thoughts on these tires

Tire Rack UHP All Season tires in AP2 sizes
I'd probably go with the Bridgestone RE960AS Pole Position, but Eagle GT would probably be a decent lower-cost alternative.
If you're concerned about rubbing, 225 fronts are probably as likely or more likely to rub than 255 rears. What are your offsets?
Stock AP2 sizes would be lower risk anyway, 215F/245R. But again it depends, if you're running 35mm offsets even stock sizes will likely rub.
Again, aesthetically I find 225/45 fronts with 245/40 rears to look a bit goofy (big fronts/little rears look).

For wheels, front is (RPF1's) 17x7 +48 rear is 17x8 +45.
Yeah the RE960AS is too pricey for what Im looking for. I think I will stick with the Eagle GT's.
On my current wheels, I have 18x7.5 +38 fronts with 225 40 18 and 18x8.5 255 35 18+35 rears. The front never rub but the back ones rubs all time time and I have a slight fender roll on the back which did help alot.
