While true, it doesn't make the UTQG treadwear rating any more useful. (except when comparing within the same brand). I've had 140treadwear tires last far longer than 2xx treadwear tires on my integra, with no change in driving habits. By far longer I mean 3 times the mileage and time.

My experience has been different, I've has 6 sets of S2K tires (3 Bridgestone, 1 Michelin, 1 BF Goodrich, 1 Yokohama) and they have all had the treadwear come in pretty close to the UTQG rating. +/- 20% or so, I was actually surprised to read that some manufacturers can be off by 100% or more.
